Cell phone Etiquette involves keeping certain simple points in mind while using the cell phone so that it does not become exasperating for others.
1.Cell phone is actually a tool to be used in emergencies only. We tend to use it to have a conversation with a friend or a business acquaintance for no rhyme or reason.We use it so often that it does not serve any purpose.The only purpose achieved is that your bill keeps adding.When we have to convey a short message we could use the SMS facility.Short Text Message are a great way to communicate in silence.
2.When you are in a party or in a public place please put your cell phone in vibratory mode.Everybody present there need not know about the latest film songs from your ring tone.
3.Keep private matters private.Nobody wants to hear you fight with your wife or your friend .Talking loudly about the happenings in your office could lead to disastrous effects.
4.Speak softly on the cell phone when you are using it in a public place.Talking in a loud voice disturbs everybody around you.
5.Do not use cell phones in places of worship.After all why do we go to these places? To get peace of mind and to be one with God.But if the few minutes spent inside the temple are used in chatting with your friend on the mobile,then the very purpose of our visit to the temple is lost.The board which prohibits the use of cell phones inside the temple is conveniently ignored.
6.Do not use the cell phone while going for your evening walk which could be your only exercise of the day.We go for these walks to keep our body healthy and mind calm.Shouting in the cell phone defeats this very purpose.
7.When you are having a meeting with someone or may be a conversation with somebody and if you receive a call on you cell phone,if the call is not of great urgency it is polite if you take the call later.When you take such frivolous calls it makes the person to whom you are talking feel unimportant.
8.If at the place where you are making the call the signal is not clear it is advisable to go to another place where there is signal and proceed with the call.Yelling only results in everybody but the caller hearing your conversation.
9.Do not use the cell phone while driving.It diverts our attention and may lead to serious accidents.
10.It is customary in any airline that after you board the aircraft and before take off it is required to switch off the cell phone.But we can find many people who refuse to follow this simple rule and needs to be reminded many times by the airline staff.As educated people we need to understand that this is only for our safety.
11.The latest trend is to try and impress your friends with your latest cell phone gadget which has so many different applications which would be difficult to follow for anybody.Remember people will only tend to see you as boastful and no other impression is formed in their mind.
